sun spots

It's a big day.  I took a deep plunge this morning into the unfamiliar waters of self employment.  I ordered my first ever business card!

It was great fun to design the card when Vistaprint makes it so easy - so ... legitimate!  Here's a sneak preview minus the text:
This little image says it all for me.  More, later... 14 days, to be exact - as I didn't splurge for the overnight delivery!  It's more exciting this way - prolonging the gratification, if you will.  I say this today, but by midweek I will undoubtedly be fuming and pawing the ground!
A new market bag almost ready to go!  Ayumi's popsicles were the inspiration for this piece.  I love them so much that I am already experiencing separation anxiety!  Did you hear that, Hilary?
Paired with Kokka linens and some of my machine-quilted cottons - not to mention this adorable Lisette lining that I found - how can I go wrong?  Would you enjoy taking this bag to market?
My bags are lined with machine-quilted cottons while the bases are interfaced and quilted with a denser batting for substance and longevity.
This bag may appeal to a knitter - who else would understand and empathize with these kinds of images!!!  I've been playing around with this one for a few days and I think that it is finally ready to be assembled.  Dark.  I like it.
It won't be easy to let this one go either!  How many bags can one person use?  My cousin told me that I should create what I love and the $$$$ will follow.  This probably doesn't apply to the person who cannot be separated from her work!
I'm going to continue to create my fabric vessels.  I'll work until the ideas diminish and fade.  And I'll watch reruns of 'Hoarders' and think about opening an Etsy account.  These are new waters that I am wading into.  Complete with sun spots.

Hi Jody! Congratulations my friend! I am so happy for you and wish you all the best on your new business venture. I am so excited for you, your quilted bags are the best and I would definitely purchase one. Be sure and let us know all the details when you get everything up and running. I can't wait to see it! I agree with your friend, I think you will be very successful, because you really put your heart into your creations, and you have such an eye for detail and mixing fabrics and colors. The knitting bag you gave me is so well thought out. There is a pocket for everything. You can really tell that it was made for a knitter by a knitter. Have a lovely afternoon ahead! Love, Delisa :)

Will welcome the details on the Etsy account - my Sewing group should all have one of your market bags!

Hi Jody! I was just out and about and thought I would pop over and say hello! Our guests from Switzerland are still here and we are having a blast. They are leaving on wednesday and I am going to miss them terribly. They brought us a years supply of chocolate bars. Have you ever tried Swiss chocolate? Oh my goodness, it is the best. I haven't had too much time to work on my projects this week, but I'm making headway on my shawl. I finished the knitting and I am now crocheting a trim around the edges. It is bright peacock blue. Have a lovely weekend ahead. I hope you enjoy working on your various projects and find a little quiet time. With Love, Delisa :)

Hi Jody so happy to hear that you liked the slippers! I really would like to find some interesting ways to incorporate beading into my knitted projects. I love the textures. I went with my niece Olivia to see an art exhibit at the Jepson several years ago and there was a bead artist who made some of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. It was so inspiring. I love the look you get when you layer the beads thickly on top of each other and then drape and weave in thin strings of tiny seed beads. The clear nylon thread is almost completely invisible and strong, I haven't had anything come apart yet, which is my biggest fear. I dread giving someone a gift and then hearing the crash of beads dropping and bouncing on the floor! :) I hope you had a happy first day of autumn today! I enjoyed it very much, Tony and I went out for pizza and then saw a movie called "The Odd Life of Timothy Green". It was such a sweet Disney movie. I didn't think I would like it but it turned out to be one of the best movies I have seen all year. Well my friend I will close for now. You have a wonderful weekend and I hope you have lots of fun knitting and quilting to your hearts content. :) Love, Delisa
