STARRY NIGHT

With Vincent's Starry Night as the poster child, how could I pass up September's NaBloPoMo?  Couldn't.  Van Gogh was the reason that I first noticed oil painting, the reason I hung around the art rooms, the reason and resulting dedication to my degree in Fine Art.  If I were asked to choose one painting to live the entire rest of my life looking at, it would be Starry Night, with Don McLean humming his lyrics in the background.  Seriously - go listen to American Pie again and be sure to replay Starry Starry Night.  Oh - in all fairness, I did break up with Starry Night for a short time.  It was that brief infatuation with The Bedroom, but I got over it.  In my defense, how could you not love that ochre colored ladder back chair?
My Carol Sunday 'Allegra's Scarf' finally dried. I like it.
As mentioned, this is a frogged Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino yarn.  It behaved itself when re-skeined and it didn't let me down throughout this pretty knit.  I've frogged and restarted the Green Mountain hand-uglied hand dyed.  It just does not ring my chimes and this is saying something.  You've never heard me post a negative comment about ANY yarn because, in truth, what is there NOT to love about yarn?  Maybe the problem is that I've had the great good fortune to work with the stupendously GORGEOUS Briar Rose Fibers hand painteds.  Talented Chris knows how to dye yarn.  This is a vastly inadequate under-statement.  Go see for yourself and treat yourself and please don't hog everything at her booth this October in Rhinebeck!  It's bad for my blood pressure to have to fight my way in to her counters!
What do YOU all think about this hand painted lace?  Be honest now.
It just doesn't do it for me.  But I think, for the sake of knitting down the stash (remember, Sheep & Wool is right around the corner) I will slog on.

Don't you find it hard to knit with yarn when you truly do not like it? I do. I have a project that's been sitting there for 10 months waiting for me to decide to finish it because the yarn just isn't one I like. Your green lace color is ok (you can always gift it when you're done).

I like the yarn--yellow is such a happy color.

Yes, Starry Night is the one painting I, too, could live with forever. I will never forget the first time I saw a Van Gogh in real life. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I still feel that way.
